Ai2 awarded a Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) GRAND grant

Ai2 has been awarded a £100k Grant for Research and Development by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA) to develop their novel anti-infective peptides as the active ingredient in a biofilm-disrupting hydrogel wound dressing with support from Advanced Medical Solutions. Biofilms are aggregations of micro-organisms which can form in wounds and prevent their healing causing considerable pain and distress to patients. Current treatments are not very effective in dealing with these biofilms which often have to be scraped out of the wound. The development of Ai2's peptides as a dressing capable of breaking up biofilms will be a significant forward step in the treatment of chronic wounds.
